As the mission’s committee chair, she assisted in the logistics of different mission trips and the preparation of volunteer students visiting the organization’s different working sites. In Michigan, she worked on health improvement programs for at risk children while trying to engage the university’s student body.

Maya participated in two different medical mission trips to Peru (Huancayo in 2013 and La Merced in 2016) where she volunteered as a translator and was able to implement multidimensional strategies, which consisted of clinical service partnerships, community outreach and health education programs for neglected communities.
